En honor a la verdad, no asoma ninguna declaración de estilo de este outfit post. Ningún atributo especial que adjudicarle a este conjunto, sin caer en obviedades. A menos que lo haga, diciendo por ejémplo, que el azúl pavo real es uno de mis colores predilectos. O para darle una justificación paranormal, expresar mi convicción de que estos zapatos de gamuza y piel de serpiente llegaron hasta allí gracias a mi poder de telequinesis, a fuerza de su dura contemplación en Style.com, Net-a-porter, Vogue, etc, hasta lograr materializarlos de este lado del monitor. Fuera de eso, nada más.

El vestido es de DVF, cartera vintage y sandalias de Bottega Veneta.

In all honesty, no style statement pokes out of this outfit post. No special attribute to ascribe to this set, without being obvious. Unless I do so, by saying for example, that peacock blue is one of my favorite colors. Or to give it  a paranormal justification, to express my belief that these suede and snakeskin shoes got there thanks to my power of telekinesis, by dint of their hard contemplation on Style.com, Net-a-porter, Vogue, etc., until achieve materializing them this side of the monitor. Beyond that, nothing else.

La feminidad en su mejor lectura flirtea finamente con la sensualidad y abraza con pasión el romanticismo. No se ve tan a menudo esa cualidad irresistible que proyectan algunas privilegiadas, como esta chica que encontré en la zona de Bal Harbour, cuyo delicado vestido de encaje en la espalda casi parece una extensión natural de su propia esencia hiper-femenina.

Femininity at its best layer of meaning finely flirts with sensuality and passionately embraces romance. You do not see so often that irresistible quality, projected only by a privileged few, like this girl I found in the Bal Harbour area, whose delicate dress with lace in the back almost looks like a natural extension of her very being hyper-feminine.

Los desfiles de alta costura en Paris a menudo embelesan al público con un prodigioso caudal de imaginación. Pero dado que sus aguas resultan tan caras como si se vendieran en pleno desierto, en general uno se conforma con beber de su fuente de inspiración o simplemente refrescar el panorama de estilo. De por sí ajena a las tendencias, la alta costura más bien contempla la exclusiva necesidad de contar con un guardarropas extravagante de algunas clientas multimillonarias, especialmente oriundas de Rusia y China.

Sin embargo, la temporada invernal 2012 transcurrió al son de un ritmo más sereno y una actitud más relajada, casi libre del despliegue pomposo que parece obligatorio en las colecciones couture. Esta vez, el concepto imperante -para muchos en perfecta sintonía con el debut del genio minimalista Raf Simons al mando creativo de Dior, que marca un promisorio nuevo rumbo para la maison- despegó del efecto artificioso en virtud de un retorno al lujo simple, si bien indiscutible.

The Paris haute couture shows often captivate the audience with a prodigious imagination flow. But because its waters are as expensive as if sold in the desert, in general one is content just to drink from his source of inspiration or simply refresh the picture of style. In itself outside trends, couture rather contemplates the exclusive need for a flamboyant wardrobe of some multimillionaire clients, especially originating from Russia and China.

However, the 2012 winter season  elapsed to a more serene rhythm and a on more relaxed attitude, almost free of bombastic display that seems mandatory in high fashion collections. This time, the prevailing concept -for many in perfect harmony with the debut of minimalist genius Raf Simons at Dior's creative command, that marks a promising new course for the maison- took off from contrived effect by virtue of a return to simple, but indisputable luxury.

Lo decía Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Insiste en tí mismo, nunca imites". Y bien vale remarcar el valor de abrazar la singularidad, aunque también hay quienes dominan el arte de abrazar su parecido con. Miren sino a esta dama. Puede ser un chignon cinematográfico, unas enormes gafas oscuras, el infalible lbd o cualquier pieza de sastrería entallada reminiscente del clásico chic parisino. Cada una a su aire, ¿cuántas no soñaron alguna vez con apropiarse del erudito estilo ladylike de Audrey Hepburn?

DIY AMBITION

Muchos de ustedes lo saben bien: a merced de diversas circunstancias (en general de tipo financiero), no siempre es posible calmar el hambre materialista así nomás, condición que empeora conforme a la selectividad del paladar de cada uno. Pero, como con todo en la vida, existen alternativas de gran potencial. Así fue cómo tras explorar algunos de estos fantásticos blogs de moda bricolaje tan populares en tiempos de crisis, recordé mis propias incursiones en ese campo, cuando en vez de canalizar mis impulsos emocionales por la vía terapéutica del shopping, optaba disciplinadamente por las labores creativas y su plus económico. Por supuesto, no significa que al presente haya abandonado mis intentos; cada tanto me pega un rayo de inspiración que va directo de mis neuronas a mis manos y hago algo que me enorgullece. Como esta blusa, originalmente bastante sosa, hasta que un simple recorte de mangas y su reajuste mediante unos botones vintage impidieron su llegada al Ejército de Salvación.

So it was after exploring some of these great DIY fashion blogs so popular in times of crisis, I remembered my own forays into the field, when instead of channel my emotional impulses by way of shopping therapy, was disciplined, opting for creative crafts and its economic plus. Of course, this does not mean I have abandoned my attempts; every so often hits me a ray of inspiration that goes straight from my brain to my hands, and I do something that makes me proud. As this blouse, originally pretty dull, until a simple cut sleeves and refastening by vintage buttons, prevented its arrival at the Salvation Army.
